The camera records show I was unconscious for nearly 15 minutes. It was long enough for Silhouette to steal some clothing from my closet, disable the security system on one of the windows, and escape. By the time security spotted him, he was making his way over the perimeter fence.
After I restrained my fury, which I’m ashamed to say took longer than it should have, I began to review the camera footage. It took me several viewings to catch it. At first, all I saw was Silhouette kneeling between my knees servicing me. I lean my head back to enjoy the ride, and a minute later, suddenly the shackles de-activate and release. He’s clearly ready for it, because he jumps up and gets me in a sleeper hold before I can process what’s happening.
But on my third viewing, I notice that as he sucks my cock, he’s watching my wrist, the one with the control on it. Once I applied heavy magnification, I can see the de-activation button depress, without being touched. How had he done that? Then I filtered the footage across the visible spectrum and found, at the same wavelength that his force field registers on, a shimmer of energy that moves from his hand to the controller. And that’s when I understood.
Silhouette is telekinetic. It’s not that he can move things with his mind, but that he can extend the strength and movements of his hands at a distance. His force field is a specialized manifestation of that effect. And when I went back and watched the footage of our initial fight using the wavelength filter, I could see that’s how he disarmed me of my bullwhip; the force from his hand seizes the whip just above the grip and yanks it away. That explained a few other incidental details: why his fedora stays on his head even when he does backflips, why his trench coat never seems to tangle his legs when he kicks. It probably explains some of his impressive leaps as well.
How had I been so foolish as to stop thinking about his metahuman gifts? I’d become too focused on conquering him mentally to identify his potential resources such as his gifts. I’d allowed myself to take pleasure in my conquest before I had actually completed it. But I’d learned my lesson.
“Next time, Silhouette, I’ll be more prepared. I know your major secrets, and I have the tools to figure out the rest. So enjoy your time as a free man. It won’t last. Next time, I’ll complete the conquest, and you won’t even know it’s happening.”
